JeffCo Express C.A.B.S. program is a new taxi subsidy program for persons with disabilities and seniors 60 and older who reside in Jefferson County.  Its purpose is to increase access to transportation for persons with disabilities, seniors 60 and older, at times when other transportation services are not available.    JeffCo Express C.A.B.S. program supplements the community’s other transportation services- JeffCo Express, JC Transit, OATS, and Mid-East Area Agency on Aging (MEAAA).
*These rules apply to all people in the C.A.B.S. program from 7/1/15 to 6/30/16.

 A  $10.00 application fee is required to process your application.  Please include your fee with your application as no passes will be sent until the fee is received.  This money will help support the ongoing funding and operations of the CABS Program.  Make checks payable to:   JeffCo Express

CHECKS NOT MADE OUT TO JEFFCO EXPRESS WILL BE RETURNED TO SENDER, WHICH WILL DELAY PROCESSING OF THE APPLICATION.  JEFFCO EXPRESS C.A.B.S. IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CASH SENT IN THE MAIL.  YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO SEND A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER.

Program Eligibility:  Individuals must reside in Jefferson County and meet the eligibility requirements of the JeffCo Express C.A.B.S. Voucher Program.

 1. How it Works

· Use of Vouchers are limited to a maximum of 30 miles. Any miles
     beyond that are at the regular fare.

· Participants must pay a $10.00 application fee to be part of the program.

· Participant must have a documented disability which meets the definition
     of “disabled” under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and/or show
     proof of age, and meet income guidelines.

· Seniors and Person(s) with a disability can use their vouchers for the
     purposes of work, medical, social/religious, school, and shopping.

· The vouchers can ONLY be used by the person whose name is on the
     voucher.

· Participants will be issued an ID card that must be shown when using the
     voucher.

· Participants must notify program of address changes.

C.A.B.S.  is intended as a “last resort” program. Participants are asked to use less costly transportation services when they are available. NO Exceptions.

 A maximum of ten books of travel vouchers per month can be purchased for enrolled participants from JeffCo Express at a variety of denominations which can subsidize up to ½ the metered fare. Please refer to the order form for specifics.

Participants are strongly encouraged to utilize existing transportation when available, i.e. JeffCo Express,  JC Transit, OATS, and Mid-East Area Agency on Aging  (MEAAA), volunteer driver, etc.  The voucher allotment is subject to change based on availability of project funding.
